Meet the Instructor : Prof. Rahmatullah Khan (T.I.)

A pioneer of photography education in Pakistan with over 40 years of experience, Professor Khan founded the country’s first structured Diploma in Photography here at Alliance Française in 2006.

As a recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (T.I.) for his services to education and the arts, he has mentored a generation of photographers who now lead the industry. His mission is to bridge the gap between traditional craft and modern digital media, empowering students to find their unique narrative voice.

1. Professional Digital Photography (9 Weeks)

The perfect starting point for anyone looking to gain total control over their camera and move beyond casual snapshots.

  • Starting: 20th June 2026

  • Schedule: Wednesdays (5 PM – 7 PM)

  • What you will learn: We break down the mechanics of cameras and lenses, teaching you how to manipulate exposure through light and time. You will get hands-on experience with fashion and glamour shoots, an introduction to DSLR videography, and essential photo editing skills in Adobe Photoshop.

  • The Outcome: Students build confidence through practical fieldwork and display their best work in a final exhibition at the Alliance Française gallery.

  • Fees: Rs. 13,500


2. Professional Diploma in Photography (6 Months)

This is our flagship intensive program designed for those serious about a career in visual arts and commercial photography. It is widely considered one of the most comprehensive photography courses in Karachi.

  • Starting: 6th June 2026

  • Schedule: Saturdays (3 PM – 6 PM) & Sundays (10 AM – 1 PM)

  • What you will learn: We move from the history of the craft into high-end technical training. You will master studio lighting, fashion and figure work, glamour, and wedding/event coverage. The course also dives into commercial product advertising, drone/aerial photography, and professional-grade post-production in Photoshop.

  • Career Impact: You won't just learn to take photos; you will learn how to manage a professional shoot. The program culminates in a Graduation & Portfolio Show in Karachi and Dubai, giving you international exposure from day one.

  • Fees: Rs. 64,000 (Installment plans available: 4 x Rs. 16,000) or Rs. 61,000 if paid in full.


3. Photojournalism & Documentary Photography (8 Weeks)

In an era where everyone has a smartphone, this course teaches you how to stand out as a professional visual reporter.

  • Starting: 6th June 2026

  • Schedule: Saturdays (10 AM – 12 PM)

  • What you will learn: We move beyond "citizen journalism" into the professional realm of street photography and documentary filmmaking. You will learn the ethics of visual reporting, how to capture raw and personal moments, and how to curate an exhibition that tells a powerful story.

  • Requirement: Access to a DSLR/Mirrorless camera and a basic understanding of photography.

  • Fees: Rs. 15,000

Do I need a professional camera to join?

For the Professional Diploma and Photojournalism courses, a DSLR or Mirrorless camera is required. For the 9-week Digital Photography course, it is highly recommended so you can practice what you learn, but you can discuss equipment options with the instructor during the first session.


Is there an age limit for these workshops?

What kind of certification will I receive?

Upon successful completion and the final exhibition, students receive a certificate or diploma in photography from Alliance Française de Karachi, which is recognized across the creative and media industries in Pakistan and abroad.


Are the classes mostly theory or practical?

We believe in learning by doing. While we cover essential history and theory, the majority of your time in our photography workshops will be spent on hands-on shoots, studio work, and practical editing sessions.
