4 Saturdays, 4 Tables: Our Floral Table Arrangement Workshop with Sabra Tufail
On 4 Saturday afternoons in August and September, our Clifton campus was full of fresh blooms, greenery and busy hands. Sabra Tufail, founder of Florista PK, led our Floral Table Arrangement workshop. Beginners and experienced enthusiasts worked side by side to learn how a striking table arrangement is built from the base up.
Meet the Instructor
Sabra is a professional landscaper, floral designer and certified Ikenobo Ikebana instructor. She has 20+ years of experience and has won 50+ awards in local, national and international floral competitions. She brought that competition-level discipline into every class.
4 Weeks, 4 Table Concepts
Each session covered a different setting:
22 August | Side Table Arrangement: compact proportions, focal points and asymmetrical balance for consoles and living spaces
29 August | Modern Horizontal Arrangement: low, elongated centrepieces that keep sightlines clear across a dining table
5 September | Buffet Table Arrangement: height, heavy mechanics and large-scale balance for receptions and celebrations
12 September | Contemporary Table Arrangement with Table Layout: a modern centrepiece styled together with linens, tableware and a complete table concept
Participants took home a finished arrangement after every class.
Structure First, Then Beauty
Sabra built the course around structure, mechanics and technique, the foundations that make an arrangement strong, stable and well constructed.
"Participants learned how structure gives a design its form, how mechanics securely hold the arrangement together, and how different techniques can be used to work with and transform floral and decorative materials."
She also taught the elements and principles of design: balance, proportion, scale, colour, texture, rhythm and visual movement.
"The objective was not only to create beautiful table arrangements, but also to help participants understand the thought and construction behind a successful floral design and develop confidence in creating their own work."
A Certificate Ceremony to Close
The final class on 12 September ended with a certificate ceremony. Every participant who finished the course received a Certificate of Completion for their hard work and commitment.
"It was a very enjoyable experience working with such enthusiastic and creative participants."
